ABOUT FABLE GROVE

In the fictional land of Fable Grove there is always a seat saved for you at a table, a cozy corner, a warm cup of tea, and a friend eager to sit for a while.

The joy of art, little treats, and tchotchkes has always felt a little like magic– a relic from a fairytale or distant land. In each little thing i make, i hope to bottle just a bit of that magic and share it with anyone who wishes to visit Fable Grove.

The creator behind Fable Grove is Vasny (hey thats me!). My pronouns are she/her, i am a Mexican multidisciplinary creative, a lifelong bookworm, and just a silly little guy.

(cw: the literal world we live in)

Fable grove with born out of a love of crafting and storytelling. But it was also born out of a need to clutch onto a sense of softness and whimsy that was beginning to feel like a dying light everytime I applied for a job in my field and saw the required prompt “Describe how you use AI in your daily workflow”.

This is who they are asking that to:

As a product designer / creative generalist by profession, I dreaded having to apply for a job in tech that would have me to bend the knee to AI scum.

Enter delusion, hand in hand with hyperfixation.

I’m lucky enough to have the best pals a girl could hope for. Connected through a love of storytelling in TTRPGs, but scattered across the country. Here, I found the biggest joy in exchanging packages of handmade or specially curated little treats and handwritten letters to one another.

I get the biggest burst of joy when I see a letter from a pal in my mail box, and not just junk mail addressed to “resident”.

I found myself chasing the urge to write, to create, to send out more and more bits of joy.

In addition to personal letters I write to my friends, we also have epistolary games, and I’ve become a volunteer for LAI.

It just makes me happy.

It brings me joy to imagine someone opening my silly little letters that I folded up and stamped and sent out with a “good luck!” as I released them into the postage system.

The idea to start a mail club felt like a train I could not stop if I wanted to. It’s super scary and I’m just a lil guy, but I’ll be damned if I don’t give it my best shot.

I want to spread whimsy in a world that can be so grossly devoid of it.

I want to connect and spread joy through things made with care and intention by a real person for a real person.

I just think there’s such a magic in that. And I hope to imbue ever fold, every line, every sticker with just a touch of human made magic.

So now, armed with delusion and a whole lot of craft supplies, I venture forth to Fable Grove.
